THE MIRACLES OF TODAY

Two months into our marriage my gorgeous husband lost his wedding ring. We were convinced it hadn't left the house yet despite searching everywhere, we couldn't find it. You'd think we'd be extremely upset about the loss, and as much as it did upset us, we carried a peace that suggested we might find it when we moved house next.
A few weeks ago (a week before our move) Jacob and I were serving at Hillsong Conference. This conference facilitates life changing experiences for many of the delegates in addition to us as volunteers. However, alongside these incredible moments consists of long and exhausting days of serving. As we returned home from our first day, we were completely spent and left wondering how we could possibly give it our all over the next 3 days. But then the miracle happened... Jacob found his wedding ring! The most incredible thing about finding his ring was that it was in a clothing drawer he opens daily. Meaning for the 5 months leading to up to this, this drawer had been opened every single day. Because of this, part of me wonders if Jesus ever so graciously placed it there for us, and it really was lost elsewhere. I guess on this side of heaven, we will never really know. Nonetheless, it was the miracle we needed to provide us with enough encouragement and strength to endure the next few days.
And... I have to say, the next few days were incredible. When expectant hearts gather together and believe for miracles to happen, miracles do indeed happen. I managed to gather some stories from the team I served on, and of course, couldn't help but share them. One of the delegates had been deaf in one ear for years after experiencing domestic abuse. Yet as some of our team gathered around her, prayed and believed for her healing, she began to exclaim that she could hear again. Another delegate had been in hospital the entire month leading up to conference. She had major internal surgery and was on a long journey to recovery. Because of this, she had put off booking her flight and accomodation from Singapore. Yet despite being in hospital days before conference, she got approval from her doctor to travel. She came into our care and we were able to help her have a transformative experience. How can you not doubt the hand of God over her situation? Another delegate entered conference on crutches with a leg injury. Again with prayer and expectant hearts, he was able to walk out on two feet with no crutches.

I know there were many more stories of healing that I am not yet aware of, but with these in mind, I can't help but ask the question 'how can you not believe in God's existence when these miracles have taken place?' They are certainly not coincidences. One walk into a loud conference and then suddenly gain back full hearing again. It was a God miracle! These stories have also lead me to think about how the miracles of today are linked with what we do or do not pray. What if the lady who was deaf in one ear hadn't put her hand up for healing? What if no one had the boldness to pray and believe alongside her? What if the lady who had major surgery gave up on there being any chance of her making it to conference? And what if the man with the injured leg said, 'no God won’t heal me'?
Perhaps we need to lift our faith, lift our expectancy and pray BOLD prayers. Perhaps there are many more miracles of today that are in our midst and will be released once we pray.
What will you believe for today?
